The Bengal restaurant is no longer an Indian restaurant and is now the non smoking section for Quatermains. The Spar supermarket in The Mall, Mbabane has changed to a Pick and Pay, as have the Spars in The Hub, Manzini and Matsapha. There is a one room art gallery, The Mud and Stick, in the home of artist Lucky Motsa, well known for his naïf realist depictions of Swazi township life. His works are sold overseas. Recommended, both for the art, which is well painted, and the chance to see how life is for many people in the country. To get there: take the road past the gables shopping center in Ezulwini towards Manzini. A hundred or so meters beyond the Gables entry/exit there is a turn to the right marked Cultural Village and Guava Gallery. Take it, then turn left at the crossroads after another hundred meters. Cross the old steel bridge and continue uphill. After about a kilometer you will see the Mud and Stick sign on the side of the road. Stop, go through the hole in the fence and it is the door to your right. |
