Activities around Wide Horizons

There are several hiking trails around the farm itself, from the easy going meander along the stream that is the sculpture trail, very popular with the kids, to serious mountain hiking for stunning views.

There are several well stocked dams on the farm, tilapia and bass, which are also scenic for sundowners with rustic shack for shelter, braai and dinghy for fun.

We are a declared conservation area, and have a demarcated wildlife area stocked with gnus, impala, zebra, nyala and bushbuck. The farm also has wonderful indigenous forest areas which are ideal for bird spotting and we have a comprehensive birdlist available. We are surrounded by mountain roads and tracks, great to explore with your 4 x 4 vehicle or mountain bike. They are safe, scenic and can be challenging.

There is a natural rock swimming pool, tennis court and contemplation chapels in the gardens surrounding the main lodge.

The famous Rosecraft handweaving centre is situated on the farm – this provides much needed employment in our rural area, and creates exquisite designer fabrics, table ware and accessories exported worldwide.

Nearby are world standard golf courses, adventure centres - whitewater rafting, caving, quadbiking, horse riding and excellent game reserves, plus some renowned craft centres which alone justify a visit to this tiny, talented Kingdom!
