ART GALLERIES

Swaziland has three Art Galleries. Indingilizi situated in Dzeliwe Street in Mbabane sells art and crafts and holds regular exhibitions of work by local and South African artists ranging from watercolours and sculpture to Ndebele beadwork and ethnic jewellery. They have a wide range of good quality stock. Indingilizi also caters for value for money lunches, teas and coffees, in a pleasant outdoor restaurant behind the gallery. Phone 404 6213. Recommended.

Gallery.com in the same street have a constantly changing range of good quality contemporary Swazi and regional art. They hold regular exhibitions and wine tasting. Recommended.

Guava Gallery in Ezulwini is on the way to the Mantenga Cultural Village, on the right. They have paintings by Swazi women as well as changing exhibitions by local artists. There is a jewellery shop in the same building which is the retal outlet for one of the largest manufacturing jewelers in southern Africa, therefore their prices are much lower than you would pay for exactly the same piece in Johannesburg. The jewellery is made on the estate, they sell a wide range from costume jewellery to fine quality gemstones. Recommended. They serve good quality light meals at the Guava Café.
